Top performing companies focus on attracting and keeping customers. Why? Loyal customers provide greater profitability. Loyal customers spend 80% more than other customers. Eighty percent of a company’s sales come from 20 percent of their customers. Loyalty can’t be purchased by the pound. Loyalty can’t be stocked on shelves with colorful ‘new and improved’ packaging.

Avoid these LinkedIn Mistakes
Three Mistakes You Cannot Afford to Make with LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the worldwide sensation, owned by Microsoft,  that allows you to stay connected with current business contacts, make new business contacts, follow companies and see what fascinating things they're up to. LinkedIn can also be a waste of your time, a benefit to your competitors and an aggravation to your friends.

Wow, big difference.

Millions love LinkedIn. Of course, if there are fans, there's bound to be some haters. Haters are the people that just don't appreciate LinkedIn no matter what benefits it may potentially provide. Some may avoid the LinkedIn experience. You don’t have to be one of them. I’ll give you three (all too) common mistakes that I see people make on LinkedIn and tell you how you can easily avoid them.

Regularly Made... Rookie LinkedIn Technical Errors

Mistake 1: Under-Protecting Connections

marketing social media linkedinIt is a BIG mistake is you allowing your competitors to get a look at all of your connections. (you know, those people you have worked so hard to "connect" with and yet you are pretty sure they are ready to jump ship at any moment and work with someone else instead of you?) Yes, your "first degree" connections are, by default, capable of seeing your connections. However, you can easily hide those precious connections from your clever competitors by simply changing the setting in the "who can see your connections" part of the "Profile Privacy Settings" screen.

Mistake 2: Over-Sharing Skills & Details

Raining down information about yourself to all of your LinkedIn connections is a mistake. Most people are up to their ears in information and are constantly bombarded with updates about every little thing. For example, ("Oh, great—yet another update on John and what he's up to…hmmm this is his second LinkedIn update today. At 6:30 am, he reportedly gained leadership skills and now he has learned PowerPoint. What social media does he think this is? --- Twitter?") Does everyone really need to know that you took that class in macramé, which you are sure will add to your web design abilities? Or that you now have now acquired “client service” skills? They may have thought you already had them. Avoid this by selecting “stop showing details” in your privacy settings. (See example highlighted in yellow.) Do you really want everyone to know that you are on the lookout for a new job? Or, more specifically—do you really want your boss to know that you are on the lookout for a new job? Remember to reverse this setting when the detail you are updating is something such as securing first-round funding for your start-up company or a Pulitzer Prize.

Social Media Basics How To Talk Twitter-Style

Many business people tempted by the Twitter buzz immediately encounter a daunting language barrier. Do you speak Twitter? Welcome to the Twitterverse. The universe in 280 characters or less.  The most common length of a tweet back when Twitter only allowed 140 characters was 34 characters. Now that the limit is 280 characters, the most common length of a tweet is about 33 characters.

TwitterBasic Vocabulary Definitions

The Tweeting communication code clearly starts out confusing. Every social network, from industry Social Media Twitter 101organizations to soccer parents, has its own specialized terms and acronyms. Those new to this microblogging jargon are in search of simple and clear answers to a myriad of critical questions such as “What in the world is Twitter's Follow Friday?” “Why are the pound signs cluttering peoples' messages?” “Is it a gesture of friendship or plagiarism to ReTweet (aka RT) someone’s tweet message?”   Once we begin to speak the language; we feel compelled to help the next Newbie.

Marketing Research, Corporate Research & Survey Services

Kamaron Research Surveys Enlightened Action

Companies use surveys as a vehicle to improve work environment, customer satisfaction, sales, and management decision making. Research is useful if the information gathered is analyzed and explained in simple, clear business and organizational development terms and quickly becomes part of the management team's action plan. We believe taking informed action is a brilliant business move.

The Kamaron Institute Research, Training, and Management Consulting teams know that knowledge is not power. This Sir Francis Bacon'sstatement, when taken out of context can be dangerous. "Company progress requires that leaders know the score, report the score, and improve the score," explains Kamaron Institute president, Margaret Ross."In sports and business; this is how you win championships."

Working with the right research partner is a seemingly small thing that can make a big difference in the bottom line.

"We survey on behalf of companies, candidates, education, and organizations in order to establish where they are today. This is their baseline. In shopping mall terms the baseline is the ‘You Are Here' point.

"It really shouldn't matter where ‘Here' happens to be. What doesmatter are the following four action steps that should follow the survey findings

  • (a) No excuses accountability of leadership group to move forward from ‘Here.'
  • (b) An action plan
  • (c) Time-specific goals, and
  • (d) Training.
  • In my book, "Making Business Work," I refer to this process as following a treasure map, with the treasure being positive business results," adds Ross. Kamaron Institute's preferred survey methodology is Internet Research.

Internet research is often an excellent alternative, supplement, or compliment to traditional research quantitative methodologies such as telephone and mail.

Our survey research services are developed and supported by PhD level psychologists to meet the needs of Corporations, HR Professionals, Business Owners, Education Leaders, Candidates, and Organizations.

The survey and research services options are listed below. Request More Research Information from Visible Strategies.

INTERNET CORPORATE, EMPLOYEE, CUSTOMER SURVEYS

In the last few years, we have surveyed over half a million people across 150 industries.

Most traditional research can be done faster, with less investment and similar results through the Internet. At times, the Internet may even offer far better results.

Internet research often provides business and education professionals with more reliable and discriminatory quantitative measurement and verbatim qualitative responses than do more traditional methods. Internet research also can open up to research the web and include App interactivity.

IMPACT ON TIME AND BUDGET CONSTRAINTS

Online research can save you time; it can also save you money. Internet research as the survey choice is similar. All else being equal, Internet research can be more cost effective than telephone research because of the reduced cost of the data collection. Internet surveys can be completed more quickly than studies that rely on telephone or mail.

Getting Social; Business Benefits of Social Media Marketing

Social Media Success

what is social media

What Is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is the act of marketing through a social media platform.

There are many social media platforms today with the largest names being Facebook, Twitter, Google, Instagram, and Pinterest. However, various platforms like Periscope and Snapchat continue to gain popularity as well. The wide adoption of social media by the general public has created an opportunity for businesses to connect with large amounts of potential customers through these platforms. In fact, of the 7.7 billion people on earth, nearly 4.4 billion have access to the Internet and 3.5 billion of them are active on some form of social media. (Link Humans). This number makes social media marketing an important marketing front for all businesses. Social media marketing can include creating a presence, interacting with people, placing ads, selling products and running other types of paid/unpaid campaigns.

Why Use Social Media Marketing?

According to Hubspot, 92% of marketers reported that their social media marketing efforts generated increased exposure for them while 80% claimed that they had increased traffic as a result. Additionally, social media can:

social media internet state

Improve Insights on the audience- With the use of marketing tools through social media platforms, namely Facebook, you are granted access to intimate information about your audience, allowing you to launch extremely targeted marketing campaigns. Additionally, all platforms open up communication between a brand and their audience.

Easy distribution- As we mentioned, social media platforms have many users. When posting content, the platforms allow marketers to easily distribute content to a wide audience.
Better customer service- Social media allows you to respond to clients immediately and personally. By doing this you are also publicly displaying your customer service skills, further solidifying your marketing efforts.

Enhance SEO- When customers Google your business or keywords, you want to show up in the results. An active social media presence helps to establish your company as an authority in your industry so you do show up. This happens because activity on social media platforms is factored into the search results algorithm.
High ROI-Costs to market on social media platforms are relatively low for the amount of exposure which is possible.

CASE STUDY

Air Asia is one company that used social media to boost their engagement and sales when they were limited budget-wise. They launched a campaign via Facebook that asked people to fill a picture of a plane's seating chart with 303 friends and submit it as their entry to win. The winner got a free flight for them and their 302 friends. Air Asia found that after the campaign ended and the winner was awarded, their overall flights doubled, their Facebook page increased by 30% and their advertisement reached over 2 million people on Facebook. This demonstrates the reach and sales building potential of social media marketing.

Works Well With…

Social media is not a lone island, it works best when integrated with other digital marketing channels such as:

Social media marketing provides an opportunity which was not previously possible, for businesses to reach a wide range of potential customers, target very specific demographics and analyze marketing results scientifically. Furthermore, businesses can position themselves as an authority in their industry through their social media presence. In our world today, social media marketing needs to be a fundamental part of a business's strategy in order to stay competitive.

Business Marketing success is a team activity. Any single marketing tactic alone won't make your business succeed, which is why you’ll want to combine Social Media with other forms of web marketing. Search engine optimization and content management strategies and social media are effective methods of promoting your website and generating traffic for it. Additionally, analytics are an important tool for assessing the strategies you've employed and maintaining your web presence's competitive edge. Social Media is one of our specialties’ at Visible Strategies Marketing. We regularly include social and mobile services as part of the CTO Services package we design for our clients.

Email Marketing: Why You Might Make it a Priority

Direct Marketing Delivers Relevant Messages to Specific People

Direct marketing via email is a cost effective way to reach out to loyal as well as potential customers. You probably receive emails from a wide variety of businesses: restaurants, clothing brands, your dentist—maybe even a few local shops.

You probably also ignore most of these emails. So why send marketing emails? Email marketing offers a very high return on investment. Campaign Monitor reports that every dollar spent on email marketing yields $38 in revenue. And a survey by the marketing consultant group Mailigen found that 89% of marketers list email as their top lead-generator.

The key is to send emails that are relevant to the recipient. Segmenting recipients helps. Constant Contact recently featured a small business called The Basketry that tailors emails to four different segments: retail customers, online customers, business contacts, and customers who purchased via retail.

Offering quality content helps, too. TowneBank Mortgage, a small mortgage company, includes helpful articles for homeowners and homebuyers in its emails.

Most importantly, whether the email includes a promotion or just links to your blog posts, include a catchy subject line.

Team Up Email With These Marketing Tools

Email Marketing is a marketing tactic that we do well and delivers results for our clients.  It can be included in a CTO Services package with Visible Strategies.

Inbound Marketing Offers Win/Wins

Magnetic Marketing - The Power of Attraction

Inbound marketing refers to marketing activities that bring visitors in, rather than marketers having to go out to grab prospects' attention or interrupt the prospect. We call it Magnetic Marketing™.

Inbound marketingearns the attention of potential customers, makes your company easy to be found in search and draws customers to your website by producing interesting relevant content (Wikipedia).

Inbound marketing is a type of Acquisition Marketing that is well suited to content marketing, social marketing, video marketing, digital advertising. Each type can be identified because it attracts people to your site because the site’s information entertains, educated, or solves a problem for them.

For year’s traditional marketing and advertising gained attention mainly by interruptingpeople rather than creating things (videos, information, fun) to attract them.

Examples of traditional interruptions would include things such as uninvited emails, tv ads, forced add pop ups. Nearly all consumers report having unsubscribed from emails and say that they record TV programs for the main purpose of avoiding these “advertising interruptions” to the program they want to watch.

Companies who make their money by selling subscriptions to their content marketing software often declare that marketing tactics such as digital advertising and great videos with strong call to actions and great landing pages are not “Inbound Marketing.”

We disagree. We believe both work well to deliver what they customer and business owner are looking for. Content marketing is a perfect pairing with these marketing tools:

Video Marketing:
Content Marketing:
Pay Per Click Marketing:

Who is doing it well?

We noticed that Hipmonk.com is doing it well. Their content is created to provide real value to both a seasoned traveler and the relative new comer. Their “Real Cost of a Disney Vacation” was useful and entertaining read.

Smart Mobile Marketing in a Smartphone World

Mobile Marketing - Connecting with Consumers on the Move

Marketing to mobile users is essential for businesses in the 21st century. Mobile marketing includes any marketing activity for your business involving a mobile device e.g. website, apps, social, email, reviews.

Examples: Subway sends out weekly deals via text message. Nordstrom generates personalized fashion recommendations on its smartphone app. Dove pushes inspiring videos to Facebook’s mobile app.

According to Pew Research over 80% of Americans own a cell phone and 64% own a smartphone. People increasingly are using mobile devices as their primary access to the internet. A 2014 comScore report found that 60% of digital media consumption happens via mobile devices.

Businesses that do not take advantage of this trend will miss out on customers, especially millennials, who rely on mobile devices to obtain goods and services.

Mobile apps offer a personalized, streamlined user experience. Chick-Fil-A’s app allows local stores to tailor the user experience to that particular store, creating personalization. This app regularly sends out promos to customers, who can order food from anywhere using their smartphone.

A well-designed mobile app both creates and deepens brand loyalty.

Helpful tip – Combine your Mobile Marketing with other Mediums

1. Social media – Connect with people on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram, inviting them to shop, get special offers, win prizes,
2. Print – An ad can instruct viewers to text your company via SMS to start receiving promos and notifications. Add a QR code that, when scanned by a smartphone, connects to your website.
3. Email – Invite email recipients to visit your site, download your app or information, sign up for text notifications.

https://www.internetretailer.com/2015/08/18/mobile-commerce-now-30-all-us-e-commerce Estimated in B2B space over 80% customers research and "pre-shop" before speaking with any company or requesting more information.

EXAMPLES: Email marketing and social media marketing are examples of mobile marketing.

As a business owner, think about mobile marketing as the device your prospect or customer is using to accomplish what they want (awareness, research, compare prices and benefits, check reviews.) Upgrading your website so that it acts like an app (adjusts its information based on the device visiting it.)

Now more than ever, businesses are focusing on creating delightful mobile website experiences. After all, 80% of Internet users are using smartphones to search online.

Mobile Marketing is one of our specialties’ at Visible Strategies Digital Marketing LLC. We regularly include Mobile First services and development as part of the CTO Services package we provide to our clients.

Video Marketing

How to Captures Attention in an ADD World

What is Video Marketing ? More Than YouTube?
The idea behind video marketing is quite simple. There have been a lot of studies that have reported how much easier it is to engage people with video content over just text, image, or audio. Naturally, that makes it an ideal technology for marketing, which is essentially always trying to engage new customers and keep old customers engaged as well. According to ReelSEO.com, a staggering 82% of marketers said that video marketing had a positive impact on their business and in a study from Forrester Research, it was determined that a web page featuring video content is fifty times more likely to appear on the first page of Google's search results than one without video content.

Why invest in video marketing?
We've already started to talk a little about the many benefits of video marketing. High on that list is a huge benefit in regard to search engine optimization. Like we mentioned above, websites with video content are consistently ranked higher in Google's search results. This means that you will have more visibility in search engines that will lead to higher conversion rates, more hits on your website, more links from other websites, and so on.

Roll Out Mat Case Study – Including Tube
Roll Out Mat is a company that sells wrestling mats that struggled with their online presence. They did not rank well on any search engines for their keywords. The main problem was there was no content built around their products. They launched a series on YouTube in which they taught wrestling tutorials each week on their mats. They also transcribed these videos to create more content and shared them via social media. After 90 days, the company ranked first for the words they were targeting which also increased leads and sales of their mats. They jumped 40+ spots for mat queries on Google from their video marketing through YouTube.

Team It Up
Smart to combine with drip campaigns, website, and social media
Video marketing is great, but it can get even better when combined with other marketing methods such as drip campaigns, website design, and social media marketing as we saw in the example above. In particular, social media is a great platform for sharing video content because you can link it back to your website and other social media platforms. Furthermore, designing your website to put video content front and center can really improve your marketing efforts for the better.

Marketing with Videos success requires teamwork. Any single marketing tactic alone won't make your business succeed, which is why you’ll want to combine it with other forms of web marketing. Search engine optimization and content management strategies and social media are effective methods of promoting your website and generating traffic for it. Video production and video marketing is one of our specialties’ at Visible Strategies Digital Marketing LLC. We regularly include these services as part of the CTO Services packages that we provide to our clients.

Loyalty Marketing: the Secret Regular Revenue

What is Loyalty Marketing?
Loyalty marketing refers to the tactics used by companies to attempt to secure returning customers by offering them promotional deals and free goods or services, or otherwise rewarding patronizing their business in a repeated fashion. In general, the idea is to show appreciation for customers who consistently use your brand. This might seem limiting, or like it doesn't put enough emphasis on reaching new customers, but studies have shown that although only around 12-15% of customers are loyal to one retailer, those customers make up between 55-70% of sales.

Why invest in loyalty marketing?
The most obvious reason to employ loyalty marketing is that it can potentially boost your sales. Lots of research has shown that putting at least some emphasis on retaining customer loyalty has a positive effect on a company's growth. Additionally, loyalty marketing is a lot less expensive than marketing aimed at new customers, which typically makes up a significant portion of a company's marketing budget. Finally, customers like loyalty marketing, and companies that use a lot of it often develop a positive reputation as the kind of company that treats their customers well.

Amazon Prime – Does It Right and Gets Paid for It
Amazon Prime is a great example of a company that has used loyalty marketing to good effect. The service gives users free two-day shipping with no minimum purchase for almost all items for only $99 per year. Amazon actually loses between $1 and $2 billion per year by featuring this service, but makes all that money back (and more) because the average Prime user spends more than twice as much money yearly than the average non-Prime user.

Smart to combine with social media, email, and gamification
No marketing tactic is perfect on its own, and loyalty marketing is best used when combined with other techniques of mass marketing, such as social media, email marketing, and gamification. The idea behind combining these with loyalty marketing is to build a consistent base of customers who are invested in your business and willing to subscribe to an email or social media service that allows you to deliver promotions and deals to them in order to secure more business.

Business Marketing success is a team activity. Any single marketing tactic alone won't make your business succeed, which is why you’ll want to combine it with other forms of web marketing. Search engine optimization and content management strategies and social media are effective methods of promoting your website and generating traffic for it. Additionally, analytics are an important tool for assessing the strategies you've employed and maintaining your web presence's competitive edge.

Why Your Business’ Website Has a Sudden Need for Speed

mobile website speedGoogle’s “Mobile First” indexing is upon us.

In late 2017, Google began moving a selection of “ready” sites to its mobile index. This means business websites have a sudden and real need formobile-friendly speed. Ignoring Google's change can soon cost your company, potential customers, as Google gives priority search engine placement to more responsive, faster-loading websites.

Google: “Most Sites Lose Half their Visitors While Loading”

Change

With "Mobile First," the mobile version of your website becomes the starting point for what Google includes in their search results and the baseline for how they determine if and where your business will appear on a search page.

Mid-2018 webmasters using Google Analytics began seeing approval notices or warning notices.  Approval meant that Google would show the site more frequently on mobile devices than site owners whose site had not earned its "mobile friendly" designation.  Other site owners would see warnings "Your site does not meet usability guidelines."

Mid-2019 the percent of mobile searches have skyrocketed since 2017. Google's research says that mobile visitors are less patient than laptop visitors and are also less likely to buy something from you during that visit.  Google researchers found that retail sites in USA tend to load in over six seconds and the mobile visitor tends to go elsewhere in less than three seconds.
